Shi-Bin, meaning colonization in Taiwanese, explores the connection between Taiwan’s Japanese colonial history and the colonization of the female body by utilizing self portraiture and archival photographs taken by the Japanese colonizers during their rule from 1895 to 1945.

Shi Bin visualizes the female body as a landscape seen through the eyes of the powerful: A submissive object to be conquered.
